LED stands for light emitting diode. Gecko LED lights use solid state lighting technology, are self ballasted and have no filament, are shock and vibration resistant, have a constant glow, do not flicker, generate very little heat, are mercury and lead free, do not emit UV (ultraviolet) IR (infrared) or RF (radiofrequency) wave lengths, emit a white light that is close to sunlight and therefore more natural for your eyes, turn on in milliseconds, withstand constant switching, handle hot and cold, do not attract insects, use very little energy, reduce power bills, last at least 50,000 hours, reduce maintenance time, costs, waste and CO2 emissions and effectively pay for themselves.
Replacing 100,000 incandescent 60 watt globes and 100,000 36 watt fluorescent tubes and the 12 watt ballasts with Gecko LED lights in office buildings will reduce peak electricity peak demand by 8.8 megawatts, save at least $85 million in maintenance and operating costs, reduce the need to generate 440,000 megawatts of electrical energy over 50,000 hours, reduce waste and waste handling by 5.3 million globes and tubes, reduce CO2 emissions by 45,000 tonnes, reduce mercury waste entering the environment, remove 50 tonnes of lead ballasts from those buildings, improve air conditioner efficiency, improve light quality.
